Laverne S. Bain of Houston passed away July 2, 2002 at the age of 88. Mrs. Bain was born February 27, 1914 in Huttig, Arkansas to Charles A. and Alice E. Shugart.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luther A. Bain; son, Luther Alvern Bain; and granddaughter, Janice Marie Byrd.
Survivors include her son, Robert Byrd and his wife, Frances; granddaughters, Cathy See and husband, Ed, Frances L. Brewer and husband, Randy, Cindy L. Mayes and husband, Josh; grandsons, Michael B. Bain, Christopher Bain, Matthew Bain, and Michael Bain; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, and Jackson Mayes, Wesley and Anthony Brewer, Robert R. Byrd, Jeremiah De La Santos; and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2002, at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2002, in the Chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
