September 9, 1989:

Robert Theodore Barton, age 73, of Fulton, Missouri died Saturday, September 9, 1989 at Columbia Regional Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Mr. Barton was born in Mercer County, the son of Samuel and Delsie E. (Brown) Barton. On August 13, 1959, in Fulton he married Thelma Virginia (Benskin) Barton and she survives at the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Floyd Wayne Todd of Oklahoma and Larry Gail Todd of Tuscon, Arizona; one daughter, Bonnie Marline Bemberger of Fulton, Missouri; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hadley Barton of South Carolina and Homer "Pete" Barton of West Plains, Missouri; two sisters, Ima Jean Hicks of West Plains, Missouri and Flossie Richards of Pleasant Hope, Missouri.

Mr. Barton was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister and one grandchild.

He worked for the Missouri School for the Deaf for four years before entering the Missouri National Guard at Mexico, Missouri, retiring from that position.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend Sam Timbrook at 10:00am on Tuesday, September 12, at Debo Funeral Home. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Monday at the funeral home.

The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
