Maria Emelia (Sousa) Andrade, the wife of the late Francisco P. Andrade, died at Morton Hospital on Oct. 26, 2009. She was 88. Born in Fayal, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Filomena (Conceicao) Garcia Sousa. Educated in the Azores, she moved to this area 1979.
Mrs. Andrade, a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church, worked as a gluer for the Frank Noone Shoe Co. for several years before retiring at the age of 67.
Survivors include 2 sons, Jose G. and Felisberto G. Andrade, both of Taunton; 5 daughters, Maria Fatima Duarte, Maria Ludovina Andrade, Maria Alvarina Pimentel and Aida Maria Almeida, all of Taunton, and Maria Lourdes Andrade of Fayal; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Friday, Oct. 30th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
