Catherine was the fourth of six children born to Francis Xavier Baschnagel and Adele A. Critz.

Catherine A. Baschnagel,84, a resident of the Urbandale Care Center, Urbandale, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday in the care center after a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, Riverside. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home, where there will be a rosary at 4:30 and prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday.

Surviving are three nieces, Carol Cunningham, Shirley Dakovich and Josita McKee, all of Des Moines.

She was born July 24, 1908, in Chicago. She worked as a packer at Quaker Oats, was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, St. Bridgetts Circle, National Catholic Society of Forresters, Legion of Mary, BVM Alumni Association, Witwer Senior Center, Third Order of St. Francis, Hawkeye Twin Club of Iowa and International Twin Club, and an officer of Daughters of Isabella.

The Rev. Joseph Schneider will officiate. A memorial fund has been established for St. Patrick Catholic Church.
