Services for Mildred Lea Brisby, 88, Texarkana, Texas, formerly of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the College Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Ada, Rev. Bill Sluder will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Stonewall. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home. Mrs. Brisby died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at her home. She was born April 1, 1923 in Lula, Oklahoma to David G. and Mae Roach Brooks. She graduated from Lula High School. She married J. C. Brisby on January 23, 1941. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1990 in Lula, Oklahoma. Mrs. Brisby was a homemaker and a former member of College Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Ada and later a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Texarkana. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Stewart of Texarkana, TX; one grandson, David Stewart and wife Patricia of Wake Village, TX; two granddaughters, Melissa Stoner of Texarkana, AR, and Tami Horner and husband Rich of St. Petersburg, FL; seven great grandchildren, DJ Stewart, Kyndall Scribner, JaCee Stewart, Krystall Ross, Madison Stewart, Zachery Horner and Toby Horner; one great great granddaughter, Skylar Scribner; one brother, Wayne Brooks of Bastrop, TX; two sisters, Willie Williams of Ada and Doris Teel of Springdale, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, R. D. Brooks; and three sisters, Evelyn Treas, Wanda Fowler, and Beatrice Fortner. Bearers will be David Stewart, Kenny Fortner, D. J. Stewart, Ervin Stewart, Don Schutte and Seth Scribner.
