Diane Nesser Austin, 70, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Skylyn Health Center. Born September 18, 1940, in Sayre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Col. Kenneth Blake Stark Sr. and Eleanor Vergason Stark, and wife of her first husband, the late Edward John Nesser, and second husband, the late James Edward Austin.
Diane was a retired librarian with Middle Tyger River Correctional Institute. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, a former member of the Jayceettes, a volunteer for Mobile Meals, and a member of The Red Hat Society. She was a graduate of Lawton High School in Lawton, OK, received a Bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Masters degree in Library Science from the University of South Carolina.
Survivors include her daughter, Kerri Austin Moore and husband Keith of Inman; a son, Michael Blake Nesser and his wife Allison of Clemmons, NC; five grandchildren, Emily, Jonathan, and Kaitlyn Moore, Kelly and Matthew Nesser; three sisters, Eileen Rose of Flint, MI, Vivian Young of Mentor, OH, and Kathleen McCarthy of Racine, WI; two brothers, Kenneth Blake Stark, Jr. and William Stark, both of Portland, MI.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Robert L. Mahaffey, Deacon. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
