The daughter of Leo Tillman and Elva Grace (Miller) Balliet, she was born April 30, 1920, in Antrim Township. She married Robert E. Alban on Jan. 17, 1942, in the Nevada Lutheran Parsonage. He died Feb. 13, 2003.
Surviving are a son, Mitchell, Nevada; a daughter, Gloria Zulauf, Nevada; six grandchildren, Monica Finney, Crestline; Robyn Ehresman, New Washington; Amy Boyer, Maumee; Leigh Hershner, Croton; Shelly Brady, Marion; and Stacey McMillan, Upper Sandusky; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter and a brother, Harold Balliet.
A 1938 graduate of Nevada High School, Mrs. Alban was a homemaker and also was a secretary for 14 years at Nevada Elementary School in the Wynford district. She retired in 1980. Before that, she worked at Westinghouse in Upper Sandusky.
She was a member of the Nevada Lutheran Church for more than 60 years. She also was a member of the Nevada Pythian Sisters for many years. Mrs. Alban was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Nevada Fire Department. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning, traveling and had been to all 50 states, spending time with her grandchildren and following their sporting events, and volunteering with her husband for many years at The Memorial Golf Tournament.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Nevada, with the Rev. Robert Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
