Clifford Lee Higley, the ninth child of Daniel Lee Higley and Nancy Ann Turpin Higley, was born May 4, 1893, at Brigham City, Utah.

As a boy Clifford helped his father on the ranch at Black Pine, Idaho, and he spending the winters going to school in Brigham City. As a young man, Clifford courted the girls by horse and buggy. In the winter, it was a little one-horse cutter.

Clifford Lee Higley married Clara Bell Mayne, February 25, 1914, at Salt Lake City, Utah. Clifford started his married life in the Black Pine Valley where he had a dry farm.

After dry years and being eaten out by rabbits and squirrels, Clifford moved to Clear Creek, Utah, where he farmed and ran sheep. He later sold out and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he started an Auto Parts and Wrecking business on State Street.

Clifford and Clara had five children: Donna Mayne, Edris Wilma,Clifford Chester, Edwin Mayne, Harold Ralph and Glenn Lee.
By the time Clifford reached his middle fifties, he had made enough money in Apex Auto Wrecking business to retire, and he lived on the interest.

Clifford loved horses, and owned several. He belonged to the Palamino Posse, and they performed in many parades. They went to Brigham City and road in the Peach Day Parade and performed both days.

Clifford and Clara divorced, and he married Ruth Farnsworth Chapman, March 24, 1945, at Wells, Nevada. Ruth died of cancer August 25, 1959, in Murray, Utah. Clifford married this third wife Myra Ross Hawks, and his fourth wife was Eva McCofferty, in 1965.

The whole family met at the home Eva McCofferty (wife of ten days), except for Clifford Chester Higley. Clifford Lee was having health problems and they wanted to find out what was wrong with him. They arrived at 12:15. Edwin gave him a bath and shaved him. They decided to take him to the hospital about 3:30 where he died at 6:25 January 15, 1965 of a heart attack, in the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Clifford was buried in the Elysian Burial Gardens, Murray, Utah. This was a shock to all the children as they didn't believe he was so ill. His funeral was planned by his children and Eva, his new wife. He had a fine funeral with a lot of family and friends. Lynn Brewer was a speaker as well as his former bishop. They told of his honesty in dealing with his fellowmen. He was a good neighbor and he shared his love of horses with any who were interested.

Clifford paid his tithing and settled up every December with the bishop. He was timid in church meetings, afraid of being called on.
