Dennis W. "Bill" Hayden, 61, of Hutchinson, died May 6, 2011, at his home.

He was born June 11, 1949, in St. Charles, Ill., to Martin William and Leona Schenkel Hayden.

He was a graduate of Hutchinson High School in 1968, and attended Hutchinson Community College. He was a retired pipeline welder for Hayden Construction, Invalco, and Southwest Associates. He was a member of the KC Slammer Model Car Club of Kansas City. He was a US Army Vietnam veteran.

He married Lorelee Daily on Oct. 7, 1972, in Ellis, Kan. She survives.

Other survivors include: sons, Michael and wife Jessa of Wichita, and Jeff and wife Tara of Fullerton, Calif.; and grandsons, Abbott and Miles Hayden. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Father Nicholas Voelker officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. A private inurnment of cremains will be held in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Military funeral honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to Grandchildren's Educational Fund or Trinity Catholic High School, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 North Main Street, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
