Ada Ray Thorne, 85, of Dorcas, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in Grant Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Thorne was born Feb. 23, 1916, in Grant County, a daughter of the late Orva Justin Mauzy and Lena Feaster Mauzy.
She married Earl M. Thorne, who preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1979.
Surviving are a son, Justin Thorne, Moorefield; four daughters, Arlena Sites, Quicksburg, Va., Juanita Brady and Sylvia Sites, both of Petersburg, and Betty Barbe, Old Fields; two sisters, Mary Alice Conrad, Petersburg, and Carrie Bergdoll, Augusta; four brothers, Ronald Mauzy, Petersburg, Raymond Mauzy, Dorcas, Marvin Mauzy, Falls Church, Va., and Glen Mauzy, Petersburg; 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three grandsons, Michael Earl Brady, infant Bruce Wayne Sites and infant Kenneth Dewayne Sites; a great-grandson, infant Hayes Coppe; a sister, Viola Mongold; and three brothers, James Mauzy, the Rev. Carl Mauzy and Virgil Mauzy.
Mrs. Thorne was a homemaker.
She was a member of Brake Church of the Brethren.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Schaeffer Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at Brake Church of the Brethren Friday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Craig Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Brake Cemetery in Dorcas. Memorial donations may be made to Brake Church of the Brethren or Gideons International.
