According to the late Terry Wilcox, Hicks family member and researcher, Andrew was on leave from mental hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa when he committed suicide while visiting his sister, Polly Haines in Mystic, Appanoose County, Iowa.
It has been passed down through the family that Andrew is buried here, in Campground Cemetery but there has been no documentation (via death certificate, obituary or cemetery records) that have confirmed this.
