Charlesburg Catholic Church Diamond Jubilee Anniversary Book 1866-1941; Jacob Burg was born in Coblentz, Limebach, Germany in 1817. He came to America in 1846 and settled in Marytown. Although this man never lived in Charlesburg, so grateful were the early settlers that he consented to furnish them a site for a church, that the village was partly named after him. By adding his name BURG, to the CHARLES of Charles Franzen's name, the village received the name of CHARLESBURG. He died in Marytown in June 1877.
