TUSCALOOSA | A commencement will be held at 6 tonight at Coleman Coliseum for University of Alabama students whose May graduation ceremony was delayed because of the April 27 tornado.
Also, a candlelight service will be held at 8:30 tonight on the steps of Amelia Gayle Gorgas Library in remembrance of the six UA students who died in the tornado.
Two graduation ceremonies will be held Saturday at the coliseum for undergraduates who finished their studies during the summer.
The six students who died in the April 27 tornado — Scott Atterton, Danielle Downs, Ashley Harrison, Melanie Nicole Mixon, Morgan Marlene Sigler and Marcus Smith — will receive posthumous degrees in the 9 a.m. ceremony.

BRYANT - Brandon "Scott" Atterton, 23, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011. He was a loving son, brother, and uncle, lifelong resident of Bryant, and was employed by DCH Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He enjoyed golf, basketball, and sports.
Survivors include his father, Charles (Carlene Messimer) Atterton; mother, Nancy (John Blevins) Atterton; brothers, Brian (Felicia) Atterton, Chance Atterton; grandparents, Paul and Gladys Atterton and Bud (Fran) Hicks; cousins, Amanda Hogan, Jessica Holloway, Dilyn Atterton, Lindsey Nipper; uncle, Kenneth (Tonya) Atterton; aunt, Robin Nipper and Donna Hogan; niece, Alexus Atterton.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. EDT Monday, May 2, at the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Todd Smith officiating. Visitation will be held 3-9 EDT today, and 10-4 EDT Monday at Moore Funeral Home. Arrangements made by Moore Funeral Home.

TUSCALOOSA -- Winds up to 300 miles an hour, a 6 mile path of destruction up to a mile wide, and at least 45 dead. These are just numbers from Tuscaloosa. The emotion of the story lives in the destruction.

"He just turned 23," Nancy Atterton said, as she choked back the tears, looking at what was left of the house where he young son's life was ripped from her.

23 year old Scott Atterton and his two roommates were home when the tornado touched down. It ripped the house from the foundation and threw the roommates about 20 yards away. All three University of Alabama students died.

Three people were killed when Wednesday afternoon's deadly tornado destroyed a home in the Forest Lake neighborhood off 15th Street.
Morgan Sigler and Scott Atterton, both UA students from Bryant, Ala., and Sigler's boyfriend Blake Peek, of Pisgah, Ala., have been confirmed dead, said Cody Kirk, a childhood friend and fellow UA student.
Atterton's death has been reported by Atlanta television station 11Alive.
"After the tornado went by, I tried calling Morgan like 10 times and Scott four or five times and couldn't get a hold of them," Kirk said.
He, Sigler and Atterton had known each other since elementary school, all living within two miles of each other in Bryant.
"Me and Morgan were inseparable," Kirk said. "If you saw her, you saw me."
Sigler was a senior majoring in graphic design, and Atterton was a junior majoring in history.
Sigler's visitation will be held at Moore's Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala., from 11 to 12:30 Saturday. Funeral services will be held Sunday at Ebeneezer Baptist Church in Bryant at 1 p.m.
Atterton's visitation will be held at Moore's Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala., Sunday from 3-9 p.m., and his funeral will be held in the same location at 4 p.m. Monday.
