Peter's parents immigrated from Germany. So Peter is the first generation American born in the United States. Peter died in 1945, four years before I was born. So I never had the opportunity to meet him. He married Mary Vogel sometime between 1906 to 1908 in Missouri. She died in 1959 when I was ten years old. I'm sad to say that I never really got to know Aunt Mary either. Uncle Peter worked for the Chain of Rocks Water Works. His job title was recorded as Fireman-Stationary Engineer. I didn't know exactly what that ment. My Dad said that he ran the engines that pumped the water out of the Mississippi River, that supplied water for the surrounding commnities.

I found a photo of a husband & wife stone marker, that was taken in 2009. Where I found the photo I can't remember anymore & I failed to make note of where & when it was taken & by whom. Mary's death date has not been added to the marker in Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum. She is not buried with Peter. When she died her son Fred buried her in St. Clair Catholic Cemetery in St. Clair, MO. Closer to where Fred & Geraldine were living. Sharon Howell in 2011 stated there was no marker in Calvary. So this needs a followed up & clarified as to wether there was one and now it's gone.
