Rita Marie Cline, 84, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away at home Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, after a short battle with cancer. Rita was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Merrill and Rita Curtis.

She was the younger of two children and grew up in Sioux City and graduated from high school at Saint Catherine's in St. Paul, Minn. Rita went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minneosta. She then moved to Portland, Ore., where she met and married the love of her life, Willard Cline. They were married on Oct. 4, 1952. Together they traveled extensively due to living a military life for close to 20 years as they raised their six children. In 1968 they settled in Coeur d'Alene.

Rita was an active member of Saint Thomas Church and provided many years of service to our community. Rita was involved with Girl Scouts from childhood throughout her adult life as well as the Catholic Daughters. In 1984, Rita was recognized by both the Girl Scouts and Catholic Daughters for her service.

Rita is survived by her husband of 57 years, Willard Cline and six children: Tim Cline, Catherine Cline, Joe (Janet) Cline, Barb Cureton, Tom Cline, and Mary (Kevin) Cline-Stively. Rita is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, ranging in age from 33-3, seven great-grandchildren and her brother, Robert Curtis of Maryland.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at St. Thomas Church with ENGLISH FUNERAL CHAPEL providing the arrangements. Burial will follow a St. Thomas Cemetery.
