THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, March 30, 2011: "Kathryne Johnson Dowdy, 99, of Maumelle, Ark., formerly of Paris, died Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Arkansas Hospice Center in Little Rock, Ark. A graveside service is set for 2 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Van Lazaroff officiating. The family is to receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home.

Born Aug. 13, 1911, in Paris, the daughter of Robert J. and Kate Warlick Johnson, she graduated from Paris High School and married Clifford F. Dowdy on Christmas Eve of 1943 in Paris. He died Jan. 31, 1994. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and was active in the Gleaners Bible Group, Texana Club and the Moderne Music Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Elizabeth Johnson Knight and Mary Johnson Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Donna K. Clark, of Naples, Fla.; grandson, Wade C. Williamson, of San Jose, Calif.; and granddaughter, Alexis K. Wright Skogsberg, of Wichita Falls.
