Martha Selma Kathrine Albert, nee Scharf, 98, of Belleville, Ill., born, Dec. 30, 1912, in Stookey Township, Ill., passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011, at her home.

Martha was a homemaker and she had worked at the Millstadt factory in her younger years. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, Ill., a member of the Zion Women's Fellowship and a past longtime member of a neighborhood Bunko Club.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Caroline, nee Keck, Scharf; her step mother, Selma, nee Keck, Scharf; her husband, Carl Albert, whom she married April 16, 1933, and who died Feb. 12, 1992; her sister, Mathilda Scharf; her brothers, Elmer Scharf, Edwin Scharf, and Raymond Scharf; and her sons-in-law, Glenn Agnew, John Swistak Sr., and Steve Franke.

Surviving are her three daughters, Carolyn Jean (Perl) Hazelip, Ethel Mae Swistak and Norma Lee Franke, all of Belleville, Ill.; her six grandchildren, Stephen (Rhonda) Agnew of Cahokia, Ill., Sherri (Charles) Glover of Littleton, Colo., John Swistak Jr., and Michael Swistak of Belleville, Ill., Mark (Crystal) Franke of Arnold, Mo., and Lisa (fiance, Matthew Smith) Franke; her nine great-grandchildren, Scott Foran of Littleton, Colo., Shelly (Marcos) Bowman of Littleton, Colo., CJ Glover of Littleton, Colo., Stephanie Agnew of Columbia, Ill., Tony (Sarah) Agnew of St. Louis, Mo., Sam (fiance, Rachael Feldman) Agnew, Kaylee and Becket Franke, and Anthony Swistak, her great-great grandchildren: Mariah and MJ Bowman of Littleton, Colo., Brianna and Scarlet Agnew of St. Louis, Mo., and a great-grandchild on the way; her two step-granddaughters, Patti (Darrell) Burke and Sandi (Douglas) Burkstaller; she is also survived by six step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, Ill., with the Rev. Darrell Weber, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt, Ill.
