Eleanor Stroup, 80, of Ford City, died Friday, April 22, 2011, in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. Born Aug. 1, 1930, in Searights, she was a daughter of the late Abner Peterson Burwell and Violet Henrietta Retcofsky Burwell. A lifelong resident of the area, she formerly worked at the Ford City and Kittanning Shop 'n Save. She was a member of Jednota. Mrs. Stroup enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Stroup, on Jan. 12, 1994; daughters, infant Karen Jean Stroup and Judy Kay Stroup; and brothers, Ralph Burwell and infant Sherman Burwell. Survivors include two sons, Charles Alan and Avanelle Stroup, of Kittanning, and Michael T. Stroup and Brenda Mechling, of Ford City; three daughters, Carol and Rick Kilgore, of Ford City, Linda Bowser and Tim Luketic, of Ford City, and Kathryn and Ray Lynn, of Elderton; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Harriet Adelaide Stroup, of Brownsville, and Shirley and James Stauffer, of Hiram, Ohio. Visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the MANTINI FUNERAL HOME INC., 701 Sixth Ave., Ford City. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Starr and Barbara Stoehr co-officiating. Interment in Ford City Cemetery
