The air medal has been awarded by the Tenth air force in Burma to Corp. Robert W. Ager, 24, son of Mrs. W. Ager, 1316 Washington avenue, aerial radio operator for the Second troop carrier squadron. He has flown 150 combat missions during two months of service in that area. He is a graduate of Washington Park high school and a former employe of Rainfair, Inc. Corporal Slain In Burma Zone
Corp. Robert W. Ager, 23, husband of Mrs. Vivian Ager, 1519 Hamilton avenue, was killed in action Feb. 14 in Burma, while serving as a radio operator with the Second troop carrier squadron. He was the son of Mrs. C. Keith, 1316 Washington avenue. Corp. Ager was born in Racine Dec. 24, 1921, and attended Franklin and Washington Park high schools. He was employed by Rainfair, Inc., when he joined the service. He had been in Burma since September and wrote home Feb. 12. Surviving besides his wife and mother are one son, Robert; one daughter, Roberta; four brothers, Corp. Harold Ager, with the army in the Philippines; Pfc. John Ager, with the infantry in Italy, Kenneth Ager, A/S, at Great Lakes, Ill., and Earl Ager, 1635 Franklin street; four sisters, Mrs. Eleanore Heusdens, 1635 Franklin Street, Mrs. Helen Sedler, 1316 Washington Avenue, Mrs. Edward Prieskorn, 2029 Carmel avenue, and Betty , at home. Age 23. Killed in action Feb. 14, 1945 in Burma while serving as a radio operator with the Second Troop Carrier Squadron, 10th Air Force, of the U. S. Army Air Corps. Born in Racine, Dec. 24, 1921, he had attended Franklin School and Washington Park High School. Before entering the service, he was employed by Rainfair, Inc. The corporal had been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart. Surviving are one daughter, Roberta; one son, Robert; his parents, Mr and Mrs. C. Keith; four brothers, Harold, Carl, Kenneth, all of Racine, and John, Chicago; four sisters, Mrs. Edward Prieskorn, Mrs. A. Heusdens, Mrs. H. Sedler and Mrs. J. Lui. Funeral services will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m. at the Krug and Son Funeral Home, Rev. Cornelius Hansen officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the grave in the Soldiers' Plot in Graceland Cemetery.
