Emma Squire Longson, 92, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully away at her home Dec. 23, 2000 of natural causes.

She was born January 25, 1908 in St. George, Utah the daughter of John Morrel Squire and Emma Cottam Thompson Squire. She attended school in St. George and the LDS Business College in SLC, UT. She worked with her husband as business manager in Longson Heating/Air Conditioning. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served for many years in the ward and stake Relief Society and Primary. She was a Salt Lake Temple ordinance worker and supervisor.

She enjoyed travel and was fortunate to see many parts of the world in her later years. She was a great sport and enjoyed many activities with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed nature and camping. She was a wonderful cook and hostess, and everyone felt welcome in her home.

She is survived by her sons, J. Keith Longson (Irene), Lee S. Longson (LeeAnn); eight grandchildren and their spouses; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Longson; parents; two brothers; and four sisters.

All who knew and loved Emma will remember and ever be grateful for her kind loving spirit, her compassion and hospitality, her loyal friendship, and her unquestionable love for her family.

Services will be held Wed. Dec 27, 2000, 11 a.m. at the Mount Olympus LDS 7th Ward, 4407 S. Fortuna Way, SLC, UT. Friends may call Tues. Dec 22, 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary at 4760 S. State, Murray, UT and Wed. 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
