Pauline (Polly) Frances Frink passed away at the Anderson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, Wisconsin on December 10, 2010. Burial took place on January 3, 2011 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO. Polly was born on January 31, 1926 in Mountain Grove, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas and Lola Frink. The family moved to Springfield, MO, when Polly was two years old. Polly graduated from Central High School in 1942. She received her nurse's training at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, graduating in 1947. Returning to school at Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma, Polly received her bachelor's degree in Education, specializing in school nursing, in 1984. Polly served her country in the Air Force Nurses Corps, serving on active from 1952 to 1955 and served almost 14th years Air Force Reserves. She was proud of her service and of the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of her brothers who served during WWII. Polly achieved the rank of Major in the reserves. Polly enjoyed her family and treasured their talents and abilities. Her younger sister's musical and artistic abilities and her older sister's artistic and writing abilities were of special pride to her. She felt that her father and brothers were the "best men she ever met". She dearly missed her brother, James L Frink, who died during WWII and took immense pride in the accomplishments of her brothers, "Max" and "Bill". She had two nephews and six nieces whom she treasured along with their children and grandchildren. Her family provided her life with richness that she treasured and appreciated fully. Polly considered her During the last year of her life she developed a special bond with her youngest niece, Jennifer Prust of Marshall, who visited her frequently, took her to doctor's appointments and brought her cheerful bouquets of flowers. Polly was very a very spiritual person. Her membership at Sunny Lane Methodist Church in Del City, Oklahoma was very important to her. She was very active in the church participating in missionary trips to Guatemala, took Bible study classes, and sang in the sanctuary choir. Her faith allowed her to live her last months in grace and peace even though dealing with complications from pancreatic cancer. Her family would like to express their gratitude to the physicians, nurses and staff at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital and the University of Wisconsin Hospital both located in Madison for giving us another year of quality time to spend with Polly, to the staff of Harmony Living Center in Sun Prairie, especially Cheryl, for their tender and compassionate care, to HospiceCare, Inc. and the Anderson HospiceCare Center for the remarkable care given to Polly and the many memories they gave her including a wonderful trip to see the Radio City Rockettes in performance in Madison. Polly is survived by her sister, Janet Kracher of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; nieces Margaret (Larry) Vance of Chillicothe, MO , Terri (Don) Matt of Mulberry, KS, Nancy (James) Valesh of Pinion Hills, CA, Suzy (Kent) Wooldridge of Springfield, MO, Jo (Paul) Prust of Marshall, WI, and Jeanne (Ron) Hermann of Springfield, MO; and nephews James (Sue) Frink and Paul (Hiroko) Guss of Alexandria, VA. She is also survived by her cousin Stephen (Diana) Schwab of Tuscaloosa, AL, and numerous great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas E. and Lola M. Frink, her adored younger sister Helen Hope Frink Guss and her husband Donald Guss, her wonderful brothers Edwin "Max" Frink and his wife Geneva Frink, Thomas "Bill" Frink and his wife Eloise Frink, and James L. Frink and her brother-in-law, Otto Kracher. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, September 3rd at 1:00 at the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Springfield.
