on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at the age of 56, after a 9½ year courageous battle with Ovarian cancer, diagnosed in March 2001.
Mrs. Dove was born on February 2, 1954 at Prince Georges General Hospital, Cheverly, MD., to Marvin and the late Dot Smith. She graduated from Parkdale High School, Lanham, Md. in 1972. She married Elwood "Woody" Dove June 29, 1974.
She worked at National Geographic in Gaithersburg, Md. until their first daughter was born. When their youngest of three daughters was school age, she started working at Central Elementary School in Edgewater, Md. as a teacher's assistant, and worked with special education children until her illness led to her retirement. Her primary focus was her family and serving the Lord. She was an active member of Chesapeake Christian Fellowship of Davidsonville, Md. She used her talent with Crafts and sewing to serve others. Even while going through her 9 ½ battle with cancer, she was always smiling and laughing. Her faith and church family enabled her to be strong through all her suffering. She was an inspiration to everyone.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Elwood "Woody" Dove, her daughters, Michelle, Rachel, and Deborah; her father and stepmother, Marvin and Loretta Smith, her brother Larry and his wife, Elizabeth; and many relatives and friends.
Visitation and a Celebration of her life was held on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at the Chesapeake Christian Fellowship, Davidson, MD.
