|Virginia Mitts Davis was married to Howard (Eddie) Davis, mother of 5 sons, Terry, Gary, Donald (Pete) Jimmy and Gregory. They lived in Sloughhouse, CA and owned Davis Market. At the time, Sloughhouse couldn't even be called a wide spot in the road. The "town" consisted of Sloughhouse Inn, Davis Market and the post office. The store and the post office shared a building and the Davis' lived in back of the store. Besides running and operating the store, the Davis' raised tomatoes for the canneries. They later switched from tomatoes to sweet corn for which they are now famous for. Aunt Virginia loved to laugh and she called everyone "Kid".|
