His parents were Joseph Stanberry and Sarah Jane Beard. He married Adeline Borden and upon her death married Dortah Knight.

Death of Prof. Stanbery
Prof R. Stanbery died at the residence of his brother, Mr. Henry Stanbery. He was born in Sandusky, Ohio in 1836. For the past eight years his home has been in Texas. He was
superintendent of the Dallas city schools for two years.

He leaves a wife, three sons and two daughter. His son living in Dallas and his daughters in Ohio. His sister is Mrs. Kraemer of Whitesboro.
