His parents were Samuel "Sam" Ferguson (1848-1922) and Mary Ellen Wilson (1855-1937). After Kansas, the 1900 US Federal Census shows the family living in Sundance Town, Crook County, Wyoming. By 1917 John's World War I Draft Card shows the family in Huntington Beach, Orange County, California. He married Mary Vie Ferguson (1894-1987) and they raised two children. Family was always important to John. And he enjoyed collecting periodicals such as "Life," "The Saturday Evening Post" and "Look." He also had a nice home library, which included the "Golden Book of Fairy Tales Golden Classics," "Grimms Fairy Tales" and the Hans Christian Andersen stories--all of which he enjoyed sharing with his small niece who loved reading these at Aunt Mary and Uncle Bunny's house on Saturday afternoons. He took pride in his father Cpl. Sam's participation in the 45 Kentucky Infantry. He was a responsible and intelligent man who enjoyed sharing his friendship, expertise and knowledge. John passed away in 1959.and is greatly missed.
