US Congressman. He gained prominence as a lawyer, financier and businessman in Battle Creek, Michigan, and for a time was vice president of the Postum Cereal Company, which is today Post Foods, the huge consumer packaged goods conglomerate. He was elected as a Republican to represent Michigan's 3rd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Congressman John M.C. Smith. He served June 19, 1923 until he himself died in office in May 1925.
