Napoleon was the son of George and Anna Williamson Plotner of Pennsylvania with siblings Martha, Sidney, Julia, and Vernon. He first married Elizabeth Jaqua on 9 November 1865 in Hancock County after his return from the war, and they had Harland, Alfred, and Clark. Following her death, he married Mary Wickham on 15 August 1886 in Hancock County. Napoleon was a farmer. He died from apoplexy at the age of 73 years 8 months and 14 days.
