WAR VETERAN DIES ON COURTHOUSE VISIT; Joseph L. Blechl, 52, of 1126 11th Street, a Navy veteran of WWI passed away unexpectantly about 11 o'clock this morning. He suffered from a heart condition for several years. The Oshkosh native who served in the Navy for over three years from 1916 to 1919 died in the Winnebago County Court House while making preparations to enter a veteran's hospital at Wood, Wisconsin. Mr. Blechl was born in Oshkosh April 19, 1896, and had resided here practically all his life. He married Theresa Jungwirth in Oshkosh. In 1920 he attended Oshkosh Teacher's College and later Bradley College, Peoria, ILL., until 1923. A member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Mr. Blechl was associated with the Holy Name Society. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Judith Blechl and Mrs. Robert Young, all of Oshkosh, two sons Alvin J., Oshkosh and Herbert J., Milwaukee; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Getchius, Oshkosh; and four brothers, Frank and Louis, both of Oshkosh, Robert, Milwaukee, and Edward of New York. A son Lt (jg) Eugene D. Blechl preceded him in death. Lieutenant Blechl was killed in an attack dive-bomber crash near San Diego on 03 January of this year.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed. The remains were recovered to the Poklasny Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held for Joseph Blechl of 1126 11th Street this morning at 8:30 o'clock at Poklasny Funeral Home and 9 o'clock at St. Vincent Catholic Church. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Military service in charge of Veterans of Foreign Wars officer of the day, William Sells, bugler; Orville Rothe, firing squad; William Kalbus, Sgt. Walter Manley, August Fisher, H.V. Wuerch. Color bearers; Conrad Paffenroth, Carl Drexler, Color Guards, Warren Norkofski, Emil Nigl. Pallbearers were Frank J. Binder, James Jungwirth, Leonard Jungwirth, Frank Blechl Jr., James Getchius, and Walter W. Herdina.
