“Obituary/
Died at the home of Mr. A. B. Meek, north of town, Tuesday evening… Mrs. Julia Meek, aged 84 years. Burial conducted Wednesday by Rev. Stranahan of the Methodist church and burial in Grace Lawn cemetery at Howard.
Miss Julia Russell was born in May 1811, was married to J. Meek in Indiana in 1828. They lived happily together in Greenfield, Ind., for a number of years, where Mr. Meek was a county recorder and held in high esteem. Mr. and Mrs. Meek emigrated to Kansas in January 1871, entering the farm now occupied by A. B. Meek as a homestead. To this union were born nine children, six of whom are still living. Mr. Meek died some eleven years ago. Mrs. Meek was a member of the M E church and highly esteemed by those of her most intimate acquaintances.”
