Jay Maynard Buchanan, age 71 of Cane Creek Route Rd, Bakersville, NC passed away March 16, 2011 in Raymond,Mississippi. He was born in Mitchell County, NC to the late Jeff and Mae Cox Buchanan. He was a retired Truck Driver.
Survivors include four daughters, Doreen Buchanan Hall and husband Dale of Spruce Pine, NC, Angela Buchanan, and husband Billy, of Bakersville, NC, Joann Carpenter and husband Kevin, of Spruce Pine, NC and Sheri Smith and Husband Wesley, of Raymond, MS, three sons, Tony Buchanan and wife Linda of Fairview, NC, Alan Buchanan, and wife Amy, of Midland, TX, and Shawn Buchanan and wife Erin, of Florence, MS, two sisters, Gusty Gross, of Spruce Pine, NC and Elizabeth Burleson, of Morganton, NC, one brother, Jason Buchanan, of Spear, NC, fourteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Grindstaff, brothers, Phillip, Milburn, Bill, Gene, and Jack Buchanan, and one daughter, Angela Renee' Buchanan.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 21, 2011 at 7:00PM in the chapel of Henline – Hughes Funeral Home with Harold Grindstaff officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will be Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 11:00AM at Sullins Cemetery (Sullins Branch Rd) Spruce Pine, NC.
