Ensign R. J. Perkinson, USNR, was designated Naval Aviator #7045 in 1941. Entered active service via the pre-war Aviaton Cadet (AVCAD) program. Accepted USN commission in 1945.

Commander Perkinson was lost at sea (one of two fatalities) when his P2V-3 NEPTUNE patrol plane was forced to ditch while on a night mission off the coast of Korea.

s/o Marion "Howard" and Lois (Jelene) Perkinson. Married former Miss Hilda Marie Hayno.
