Ethel Routh Alexander, 76, was granted her angel wings on Monday, November 23, 2015. Born on October 11, 1939 in Randleman, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee Routh and Frances Roberta Robins.

After retiring from Comdial in 2002, Ms. Alexander went on to be a Corporate Travel Agent with Omega World Travel until early 2009. After taking a break, she joined the United Land Corp in August of 2009 where she was greeted by the close family atmosphere. Ms. Alexander was also very active during tax season as a seasonal preparer at Protax. As an entrepreneur, Ms. Alexander managed an online business, Herbal Life. Aside from work, Ms. Alexander was an avid golfer and bowler. She was a member of The Red Hat Society and a lifetime doe at The Elks. She thoroughly enjoyed going out to dine with friends and family. She proudly cheered for UVa and attended countless football and basketball games. She was also a proud Dallas Cowboys fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Thomas Alexander; son, Greggory Scott; two brothers, Wesley and Bennie Routh; three sisters, Marie Routh, Lucille Ingold, and Isabelle Hunt all of Randleman, N.C.

Ms. Alexander is survived by her daughter, Francelia Lynn Alexander; son, Larry Anthony "Tony" Alexander; five grandchildren, Cassie Herring and husband Chris, Ashley Spradlin and fiancé Chris, Lydia Spradlin and fiancé Jesse, Kaitlyn and Matthew Spradlin; five great-grandchildren, Kylie, Miley, Akira, Reagan and Levi whom she loved dearly, they would say "she is the best NaNa ever!" She is also survived by two sisters, Hilda Underwood and Blanche Cox (Billy) of Asheboro, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Jonnie Routh of Climax, N.C.; and a very special niece, Lillian MaCaskill (Jimmy) of Greensboro, N.C.

Ms. Alexander leaves behind many people whom she loved. Among them, some of her dearest friends, Shirley, Betty Lee, Dottie, Carolyn, Beverly, Jane, Marge, and Nancy.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Grace Baptist Church, 3764 Pritchett Lane, Charlottesville, VA 22911. Pastor Johnny Hartless afficiating. There will be a reception following in the dining hall. In lieu of flowers, family request that a gift be donated to the Flourish Boutique at the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society. A special thanks to Dr. Leigh Cantrell, Dr. Baker and staff at the Emily Couric Cancer Center for their care of Ms. Alexander.
