Louis was born in Alba Township the son of Conrad & Martha Krowas Hussong. He graduated from Okabena High School in 1919. He taught in a Nobles County one room school for one year. He attended the University of Minnesota for one year.

On September 4, 1924, Louis married Elizabeth Ramerth. After their marriage they farmed in Alba Township. Louis served as the Alba Township treasurer for many years. He was a board member of the Crop Improvement Association, township director the Jackson County Farm Bureau. He served on the Heron Lake Hospital Board for five years and was chairman of the Jackson County Cancer Society for one year. Louis sold Pioneer seed corn for eighteen years. He represented Jackson County in the Minnesota House of Representatives for the term of 1955 to 1956 and was Sergeant of Arms during the 1967 session.

Elizabeth died of cancer on April 3, 1955. Louis married Matilda Schaffer Volk in 1956. They lived in Heron Lake after their marriage. Louis passed away at his home at the age of 72.

Louis & Elizabeth are the parents of Eunice (Kenneth) Heeringa, Patricia (Dale) Flatebo, Carol (William) Leopold.

Louis' siblings include Edward Hussong and Hilda (Walter) Ehlers. Louis was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Funeral Mass Ceremonies were conducted at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake on October 6.
