Chico Record, Thursday Morning, December 3, 1914, pg 4 col 6: One of the First Settlers of Chico Dies. Isaac Duncan Dye, Pioneer, Passes Away at Age of Eight-Seven. Isaac Duncan Dye, who lived in Chico when it first was settled and who was one of the best-known pioneers of the city and Northern California, died at his home, on Sierra street between Eighth and Ninth streets last evening shortly before 6 o’clock.
He was eight-seven years old and death was due to the infirmities of old age. He had been retired for several years.
Isaac Dye was born in Kentucky October 27, 1827. Sixty-five years ago he came to California, settling in Sacramento in 1849. He then freighted to Marysville.
He was one of the first settlers of this city. When he first came here he farmed what now is known as the Briscoe place on Butte creek.
A daughter, Jeanette Dye, survives. Nephews and nieces reside in the east.
The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock, the scene of the services not having been decided.
