Alberta Malinda Bartell, 90, of Great Falls, a retired secretary, died Mar 5, 2011 at a local hospital, of complications from a fall.
Survivors include three children, Gary (Linda) Bartell of St. Regis, MT, Janice (Roland) Albert of Great Falls, and Beverly (Buddy) Goad of Tyler, TX. There are seven grandchildren, including Malinda Bartell, with whom she made her home and was cared for by. There are also 17 great-grandchildren and a brother, Leonard Lindgren of Joliet, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Patricia Bartell.
Alberta was born May 21, 1920, in Hysham, MT. She spent her school years growing up in Joliet, MT, and graduated from high school there on May 18, 1938. In the years that followed, she was a secretary in Billings and later in Great Falls. She later became involved with child care, and did this for 40 years. She enjoyed taking care of children, and loved each child whom she cared for.
She married John Bartell in 1948. They later divorced.
Alberta had a hard but very happy life. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would tell anyone who would listen about all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and all of the other children whom she took care of, and she enjoyed following events about all of them in the newspaper.
Later in her life, she was a volunteer for the Benefis Skilled Nursing Center and embroidered many tea towels for their fund-raisers. Other hobbies she had were cooking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, working puzzles and watching sports. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren, who lived with her, and caring for her dog, Sassy.
