Her parent's were John and Maggie Bell Smith, she was one of twelve children six boys and six girls. James, Carrie, Marshall, John, Magnolia, Susie, Glayds, Elizabeth Ruth, Virgil, Charlie, Anna Laura and Robert Lee.

Susie was known as "Sue". She was an amazingly wonderful, loving, caring lady. She was a school teacher for over 40 years, for special education childern at Franklin Elementary School in Detroit, Michigan.

Susie was never married, but she mothered hundred's of children. She was very close and dedicated to her family. She was a second mother to her baby sister Ruth's(my mom)children, she never missed a day visiting us. She was very close to her brother-in-law Phonell Floyd (my dad).
My aunt Sue was very generous and had a strong belief in education and family. She is still teaching us. She was my aunt on my mothers side I was her favorite neice she called me Alleycat. She would come eveyday and wash and comb my hair, she would read to me and I would sing to her.
She loved to play the piano.

I would often wonder when does she sleep, she was always working or here at my house. She was a really good baker and could cook as well, she also was like my grandmother, she loved to eat porkchops..

She loved to travel, she toured Europe, the Middle East, France, China, England and Africa as well and traveling all over the United States but her favorite place to go was Athens Georgia..

She was 62 years old at the time of her passing and I was 20 years old and I was very upset that she left me and it took me over 15 years stop being mad at her for leaving me. As I 'm writing this it makes me feel very emotional. I guess I was being selfish and didn't want to let her go...I still miss her, she died peacefully at home.

The two other pictures are of Susie's brother's and sister's.
