Aurora "Dora" Cruz Contreras, 93, passed away surrounded by her family October 2, 2014.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 6, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Tom Gutierrez officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Cruz Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m to 8:00p.m., Sunday, October 5, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors.
Aurora was born in Waco, Texas, April 21, 1921 to Christino and Maria (Cruz) DeLeon. Aurora was full of life and a very loving mother, grandmother, and wife. She was a phenomenal home-maker, who made the most out of the smallest things. She enjoyed gardening and being surrounded by her family. She was beyond selfless and such an inspiration to all she met.
Aurora was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas and sons, Gilbert and Joe Contreras.
Survivors include her children, Helen Herrera and husband John, Connie Gutierrez and husband Lupe, Josie Rodriguez, Chris Contreras and wife Selsa, Larry Contreras, Paula Munoz and husband Joe, Janie Linkous and husband Calvin, Thomas Contreras, Jr., Aurora "Dora" Becerra and husband David, Sr. and Ben Contreras; four generations of grandchildren; brother, Mr. Salinas and a host of other relatives.
Pallbearers are David Becerra, Jr., Joe Herrera, Lupe Gutierrez, Jr., Carlos Ramos, Manuel Fimbres, Jr., Gregory Contreras, Gabriel Contreras, and Johnny Joe Contreras. Honorary pallbearer will be Chris Contreras, Jr.
