Archie was a farmer all his life. His parents homesteaded in Chaffee County, Colorado where he grew up and went to school. The winters were long with lots of snow and the summers were hot and sometimes windy. Life is not always easy for the Chaffee County farmer with the high elevations [abt. 5,500 feet] the growing season is shorter, with about eight months out of the year having below freezing conditions.
He farmed near Central Point, Jackson, Oregon. It was an area much kinder to the Oregon farmer, with short winters and a long growing season with good soil, good supply of rain and with a lower elevation (abt. 1,200 feet). All around a pleasant place to live and work.
Archie Nash, died, 01 Oct 1944, single, in Medford Community Hospital, Medford, Oregon of uncontrolled high blood pressure and a defective mitral heart valve.
