Mrs. Cook was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed working in her yard and with her flowers. They won the "Yard Beautiful" award more than once. Mrs. Cook was a member of Union Road Church of Christ. She loved the church. Her parents were good Christian examples and set a good example for her.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jackie Futch of Pollok; grandchildren, Becky and Grady Hughes, Douglas and Robin Futch, Laura Futch and Brian and Samantha Cook; great-grandchildren, Emily and Katie Hughes, Haley and Hayden Futch and Sarah and Haley Cook; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband in 2002 (whom she married on July 29, 1939 in Lufkin); sons, Michael in 2011 and David in 2007; sisters, Marjorie Nell Pine and Ruth Mitchell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rett Syndrome Research Foundation. 4600 Devitt Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio 45246 in honor of her granddaughter, Laura.
Services for Mrs. Cook will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with Pat Jones officiating. Private interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home. Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
