Lillie G. Byers
Lillie G. Byers died of congestive heart failure and pneumonia on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, her 81st birthday, at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Mrs. Byers, a lifelong resident of Virginia, served as a cafeteria employee at multiple schools in the Fairfax County School system for 45 years.
She was a charter member of Garfield Memorial Christian Church in McLean, established in the 1950s, where she served in various capacities as a Sunday school teacher, deaconess and elder.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard "Eddie"; six children, Leonard Byers, of Manassas, Edward Byers, of Warrenton, Carol Byers, of Fredericksburg, Shirley Trosko, of Sacramento, Calif., and Lee Byers and Richard Byers, both of Meridian, Miss.; nine grandchildren; three step- grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights, with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at El Bethel Cemetery in Allwood.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour before the service.
