Born in Idensen, Kingdom of Hanover to Johann Dietrich Christoph Freyse (sic) (1783-1852) m1810/14 Catharine Sophie Dorothee Senne (1792-1827). Her baptismal name was Katharine Marie Dorothee Freyse, but she was known as Dorothea or DORA. In America the name is usually spelled FREISE.

Dora married Ernst Heinrich Conrad Christoph (Henry) BRANDT on 6 Aug 1846 in Idensen. Four children were born there. Daughter Katharine Henriette Sophie Marie Brandt (1847-1849) was buried in Idensen.

The family immigrated on S. S. Rastede from Bremen to N. Y. 8 Jun 1852 with three children and siblings. The family name was spelled BRAND in America.

Henry purchased land in Limestone Twp. of Kankakee Co. IL but died in a cholera epidemic 2 months after they arrived along with a daughter Dorothy (1850-1852) and his brother and brother-in-law. No grave is found for little Dorothy who may have been buried with her father.

Left with a farm and 2 children, Dora married Ernest Christoph Kukuck on 20 Apr 1853 in Limestone Twp. of Kankakee Co.IL and became the beloved martiarch of two "families" and many descendants.

Two Brand children and 5 of 10 Kukuck children survived to adulthood.
