His niece said that John’s ongoing occupation was as a bookie.
At the time of the WWII draft registration, 45- year-old John was living at 619 E. Water Street in Mt. Vernon. His wife, Lola, was listed as his next of kin and his employer as Frank Melville at 8 North W. Evansville, IN.
