Jewell (Elam) Bennett, died in the Hamilton General Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 28th at Riley Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Gentrys Mill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gentrys Mill Cemetery or South Texas Children's Home, or your favorite charity in her memory.

Jewell was born to David Martin Elam and Frankie Douglas Owen Elam.

Jewell married Wylie Edward Bennett on March 29, 1936, in Hamilton, TX. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1982, in Hamilton.

Jewell was a longtime member of the Littleville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, visited homebound members, and supported all the church's activities.

Jewell worked many different jobs including helping Edward operate a service station, grocery store, and laundry.

She worked at Patty's of Texas for a number of years and as a cook and dietitian at Hamilton Hospital for many years.

She worked at the South Texas Children's Home as a substitute house mother and worked for Mr. and Mrs. P.T. Lemmons as a caregiver.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; son, Henry Martin Bennett; grandson, Robert E. Bennett; daughter-in-law, Mary Sue Bennett; sisters, Katie Lee Elam Morris, Essie Bell Elam Williams, Edna Elam King, and Betty Ruth Elam Lavoie; brothers, George Washington Elam, Carl Martin Elam, Arthur Douglas Elam, Leonard, and David Lawrence Elam.

Survivors include her children, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two expected great-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren, sister, brothers
