He was born in Isabella, Puerto Rico on September 5, 1917, son of the late Ramon Rivera and Carmela Camacho. He moved to Connecticut in 1974 and began working at Imperial Nurseries, where he acquired his love of nature and gardening. He enjoyed listening to music, poetry, strolling through the park, and particularly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children and their spouses; Haydee of Hartford, Hector of Manchester, Jose of Hartford, Eligio and Lourdes of Manchester, Mirta and her companion John Carta of Vernon, David of Hartford, Miriam and Efrain Rivera of Windsor, Ismael and Linda of West Simsbury, Jesus of Manchester, Luis and Barbara of Portland; twenty grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two sons Wilson and Miguel and a granddaughter, Stephanie.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday (February 28, 2011) at 8:30 a.m. at De Leon Funeral Home, 104 Main Street, Hartford, followed by burial at Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Family and friends may call on Sunday (February 27, 2011) at De Leon Funeral Home from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
