Aydlett, NC – James "Jimmy" A. Barrett, 79, died February 20, 2011. Mr. Barrett was born in Norfolk, to the late Henry A. and Doris Ensley Barrett. He was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He also served as a Norfolk firefighter for 33 years, was an avid fisherman and woodworker, and, above all, was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Barrett was predeceased by his sister, Martha Murphy.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Myrna Barrett; daughters, Windy Dongarra and husband Tony of Bells Island, NC and Renee Furman and husband Rick of Norfolk; grandchildren, Jennifer Cooke, Jesse, Colleen, Vince and Troy Dongarra; niece Doris Rocha and nephews, Danny Rocha and Mel Murphy; and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 Battlefield Blvd., S., Chesapeake, VA 23322 on Thursday from 7:00pm until 8:30pm.
