Statesboro - Mrs. Maxie Howell Cone, 82, died Friday at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah after a long illness. The Bulloch County native had lived in Statesboro most of her life and was a member of First Baptist Church in Brooklet.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. H.T. Basher of Decatur and Mrs. James E. Bowen of Lilburn; a brother, Edward E. Howell of Statesboro; and several nephews.

Funeral: 3 p.m. today at Smith-Tillman Mortuary in Statesboro, burial in Brooklet City Cemetery.
