Eileen Marjorie Couzens was born on April 23, 1906 at 23 Wachington Road in Cavercham, England. Her parents were Catherine Mary Blake Couzens (1879-1919)and Robert Edward Couzens (1876-1919). On June 28, 1913, Eileen and her mother sailed from Southampton, England to the United States on the S.S. Philadelphia. They joined her father in Brooklyn, New York. He had sailed there several weeks before. On the day before Easter in 1919, Eileen enjoyed herself shopping for a confirmation dress. She was to be confirmed the next day. Tragically, that night Eileen and her parents all died from accidental gas asphyxiation from a leaking wall lamp. Easter morning friends found them. Eileen's confirmation dress had been laid out the night before for her to put on in the morning. Eileen was just shy of her 13th birthday. She and her parents were buried in Evergreens Cemetery on April 24th.
