By 1881 he was living in Union Road in the Mount Charles area of St Austell with his parents, wife, child, brothers and sister. He had married Grace Charity Laury in the latter part of 1880. His occupation was that of stonemason.

He and his wife subsequently emigrated to Yonkers, NY along with their son, Alexander Robins and their daughter, Alice Ann who subsequently became Mrs Curtin. Alexander and Charity returned to Cornwall for a family visit in early 1912 and were returning to the USA third class on the Titanic. Also returning with them was their nephew, William Henry Nancarrow.

The Titanic hit an iceberg and sank. Mr Alexander Robins was lost in the sinking. His body was subsequently recovered by the MacKay Bennett ship no 119 along with that of his wife no 7. Their remains were taken to their daughter in Yonkers, NY.He is buried with his wife in Oakland Cemetary in Yonkers, NY, USA.
