Nora was a descendant of Immigrant Ancestor Abraham Jury, a French Huguenot born in Switzerland and immigrating to America from Rotterdam, and Cowes on the ship Nancy in 1754, along with his family including son Samuel Frederick Jury. They settled in Millersburg, Dauphin, Pennsylvania, where Samuel and his wife Hannah Marie Bretz had children, including a son Abraham Jury in 1780. This Abraham married Anna Maria Weise on 23 March 1813. At least their first 3 children were born in Millersburg or Upper Paxton Township. John Frederick Jury was either born there or in Clearfield County, where the family moved before 1830 where the family is listed on the 1830 Federal Census living in Covington Township. John F. Jury married Elizabeth Graffius and had 13 children, including Nora.
