Known as Nanny to her family, she lived on Warm Springs Rd. at Flatrock her entire life. She raised various types of daffodils, paper whites, spider lilies and iris bulbs on the family dairy farm at Blackmon and Warm Springs Rd and sold them at their little store on the adjacent corner now a nursery. In her later years, Mrs. Blackmon together with her daughter Mrs. B. F. Billings agreed to sell a portion of their land to the city to form Flat Rock Park.

Happily Mated

Mr. Blackmon and Miss Dortch
United in Marriage.

At 10:30 o'clock Sunday a beautiful
home wedding occurred at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Dortch, one mile
below Flat Rock. Their only daugh-
ter, Miss Effie Marie was Married to
Mr. Hollis H. Blackmon, of Columbus.
The attendants were Miss Mattie Jenk-
ins with Mr. Biggers and Miss Kate
Biggers with Mr. Will Taylor. The
wedding march was played by Miss
Katie Dudley, of Seale, Ala. The dec-
orations were of bamboo, chrysanthe-
mums and roses tastefully arranged.
The house was filled with friends of
the young couple, who brought them
many handsome presents as a token of
their good wishes. The marriage cer-
emony was performed by Rev. B. W.
Bussey, of Jamestown.
